"oh what a delight!" glancing at the building one last time, he turned away and headed to the cafe. this vampire always had been a sucker for cafes.
. the little bell chimed as he entered. the smell of coffee and tea filled his nose and his shoulders slumped. running a hand through his messy black hair, the vampire lord waltzed up to the counter and gave the young girl a dashing smile. she blinked a bit but then smiled back. "I'll have a small mocha with a bit of cinnamon and a shot of raspberry creame please." swirling red eyes seemed to hold her gaze and the female nodded. he paid for his coffee and settled into a small booth. venice was particularly busy tonight. people hurried up and down the sidewalks rushing from her to there. it was amusing to watch from his little window. while the rest of the world had been attacked by demons venice seemed to be untouched by the drama. this was pleasing to the vampire lord. the young girl brought him his coffee, blushing a bit as he caressed her hand. taking a sip of his coffee, the vampire lord's eyes shut in bliss. now this was coffee.
. a group of people entered the cafe, but the vampire lord didn't seem to mind. a few of the girls looked him up and down appreciatively. he slipped out of his trench coat and laid it down on the table. his white button up shirt clung to his body and it was unbuttoned ever so slightly to show a bit of chest. letting his telekinesis take a roll, he made one of the rolls float across the room. it landed next to him and he sent some money to the girl behind the counter and winked. she looked surprised at his change but didn't say any more. the group that had come into the cafe looked in a state of shock. guess they hadn't seen anything like that before. the vampire lord gave them a lazy grin before sipping his tea and nibbling on his roll.

Italy. Italy was beautiful -- shockingly so, in fact. Even after all the war and slaughter, the city was stunning. It was probably, though, that West's judgement was skewed, since the country was by no means in the same shape it was before the wars. Still, to his eyes, it was lovely. The small Mexican town he had grown up in was sprawling and hideous; Italy was composed and beautiful. It was infectious, too: West found himself standing up straighter, adjusting the collar of his copper-buttoned jacket, and smiling just a little bit more.
He felt as high as the sky, just like nearly every other day of his life. It was a fact that West had ridiculous amounts of energy and he used them well. Now, staying as discreet as he could despite the fact that he was probably safe, he hurried through the Italian streets. It was so difficult to keep his attention away from the buildings -- that marked you as a newcomer immediately, and newcomers got noticed -- but he managed. Human stubbornness wouldn't let him give himself away. Three years had gone by since he left Mexico, and it would be stupid to undo all of that work just by being careless with his eyes.
Surprisingly, West wasn't on business, not yet. That was surprising because West was always on business of some sort. It didn't even matter what the business was; he always had a reason for going somewhere. But today he didn't. It had taken him months to get here and the only reason was that he needed a new job. The human did all sorts of odd tasks for people in order to give himself purpose. He served as a bodyguard, as a sniffer dog, as a scout, as a messenger. Sometimes he did this for free; more often, for supplies; rarely, for money. Since he was always on the move, and always in hiding from demons and whatnot who wanted to kill him, money was only a burden. But he did accept it, so he had some pocket change to spend, just as he did now. And he did spend it, just as he was intending to now.
He was headed straight for a café, a quaint-looking one that was busy enough that he'd go unnoticed. Humans were safe, but West had made a few enemies during his time abroad, all of whom wanted him dead as a doornail. Striding confidently in through the wooden door -- nervousness or hesitation got you noticed, too -- he walked up to the barista, green eyes taking in the price of the coffee so that he had the bills ready when he reached her. Flashing her a smile, he said, "Small black coffee, please." Then he bit a thumbnail and thought for a split second. "Strike that: small coffee, with cream."
The barista nodded her understanding, flashing a sheepish glance at someone over West's left shoulder and blushing just a little. He sighed mentally and shifted his weight. Whatever dashing gentleman there was that was that was making the pretty girl making coffee blush was of no concern to him. Well, that's only technically true, actually... West thought with a tiny smile. He was allowed eye-candy, too, wasn't he? As long as he was discreet about it, he saw no reason why not. Having paid, he turned nonchalantly, making his way to a table with a single chair just a small ways away from the person of interest.
He was interesting -- too interesting, in fact. West lifted his eyebrows and bit his left thumbnail, looking pointedly out the window and not at the stranger. This whole 'being careful' schtick went completely against his instincts, since he was used to doing and saying the first thing that popped into his head, so he wasn't doing very well in keeping his attention off the man. It didn't help when the stranger slipped out of the trench coat and laid it beside him -- and it especially didn't help when he proceeded to float a roll across the café. That just set West on red alert.
Flashing a distracted smile at the barista as she brought him his coffee, he leaned forward, drumming his fingers fiercely on his thigh. Telekinesis was apparently a fairly rare thing in this café, if the raised eyebrows of the onlookers were anything to go by. If this was someone that he had angered back in London, perhaps, or on the way here to Italy, then they wouldn't be so stupid as to make a show of their abilities in a public place. In all likelihood, the stranger was just a showy kind of guy (he couldn't say 'man', because West had taken to suspecting that everyone he encountered was non-human). Still, he had better be on his guard.
West dropped his chin into his left palm and pulled at his unruly hair with his right, rolling the strands in between his fingers. He was a very good actor-- he had the smarts and three years of experience for it -- when he wanted to be, which was, admittedly, very rarely. However, if it meant his life one way or the other, West decided it was worth the effort to at least try and look bored with everything around him. He just hoped no one came up to him; people had that annoying tendency sometimes, and it was hell for him when he was trying to keep a decent cover.

~Sugar, Sugar Sweet~
The boy's eyes couldn't focus on one thing for long. Everything was different from Tokyo, where spent most of his time. Hanging out at the Pitt and running errands for Nina. Italy was so very new to him. He'd only arrived a day ago. The buildings were beautiful and the ivy danced across the structures and added the perfect artistic flare to just about everything it touched. Hell, even the roads were perfect! So much more well kept than the backstreets of Tokyo, in which provided the sumo sized potholes that had a reputation for eating whole SUV's for dinner.
Of course Credo had no idea where he was going. And God pray he find his way back to his hotel door. Credo was always one for getting lost and very well at showing it. Though he wasn't one to panic and spazz out on the scene. He would simply wander around until he could remember. Not that he ever had a problem with that, seeing as he was always easily entertained. Be it a shiny object with a pretty texture, or just a squirrel in a tree, Credo was all over it. Considering his age and mature looks, one would be astonished at his childish nature.
Today he was sporting a pair of black skinny jeans, a dark red checkered button up collared shirt, and his favorite pair of slide-on converse shoes. Credo had a thing for checkered clothing. Usually he'd be wearing something totally stand out and flashy, seeing as he's ever lusting for new clothes to wear.
Amber eyes focused on a small cafe on the other side of the road. The smell of coffee and cookies naturally attracted Credo ever closer. He bounced across the cobble road and pushed open the door to the cafe, the smell of deserts and coffee grinds forcing their way into his nose. That classic, yet sweet smile of his plastered itself across his face and he waltzed on over to the counter.
"May I have aaaa...." his voice trailed off and his eyes danced across the menu, "A french vanilla frappuccino, please?" he asked politely and handed the barista the money, making his way to an empty booth. A flash of pale green caught his eye as he passed and he unintentionally stared for a few seconds at the source. He caught a whiff of human. And also a vampire.
After sitting down it took him a while to distinguish which one was which. But it seemed the tall, black haired man was clearly vampire, and the pale green haired other was human. Both looked considerably different from the people that dwelled here. Obviously they were not from here. The vampire also had unmistakable red eyes, in which made Credo extremely uncomfortable for whatever reason. He quickly diverted his eyes from the black haired figure just as soon as Credo realized he was staring. He didn't seem to notice and continued to gingerly sip his coffee.
His coffee had soon arrived and he sipped and took it in. The brown liquid warmed his body and made him feel all tingly inside. It felt like Heaven. It was Heaven. Only in a cup. A roll of bread floated past and he grabbed one without thinking up a good logical reason as to why bread was floating around in a cafe. But who cares, free food is the best food right?

. normally the vampire wouldn't pay any attention to it but there was something different about this demon. he smelled not of power but of fear. a demon smelling of fear? now this was odd. very odd. fingers drumming along side of his mug, the vampire finished his roll and scanned the room. the group that had been in awe of his abilities left not too long ago. there was only the human, the demon, himself, and a few other vampires. not including the little coffee girl. the bell chimed to coffee shop and it brought his attention to a group of three men who entered. to his surprise they smelled of vampire and gun powder. one of them mumbled something about human and his warning flags shot up. carefully setting his cup down, the lord let his glowing red eyes rest upon the trio. they advanced on the human boy, two of them drawing weapons. "oi, human boy, you are coming with us." one of the vampire drawled placing a hand on the human boy's shoulder.
. within a flash, the vampire lord moved between the group and the boy. "excuse me but what in gods name are you doing?" his voice was smooth and even but it held a dark tone to it. his eyes glowed a deep red and his fangs were clearly present. "and who the fuck are you?" the supposed leader of the group stepped forward. eyes narrowing, the lord delivered a swift kick to the middle of his chest and sent the cocky little prick flying back. "I suggest you watch your tone of voice when you are talking to an elder." the vampire spoke again in a smooth voice but the power of his words seemed to fill the room. "oi, that's dimitri addington. fuck bro you are on your own." the oldest of the three gave him a quick look over before heading out the door. the other two vampire quickly realized they were in the company of power and scurried out as well. sighing, the lord turned to the human boy. "my sincerest apologizes, but I couldn't let a human fall to the hands of mt brethren." his gaze flicked to the demon. "and what is a demon like yourself doing here?" these words were much lower and were almost threatening but he kept them from being heard by others.

West cursed himself silently as the man in the booth flashed him a toothy grin. He knew that he smelled like a human -- encounters with other creatures had taught him that very quickly -- but it wasn't like everyone went around smelling the air. Or maybe they do, he thought and bit his thumbnail hard enough to leave a mark. At least he could be sure now that the stranger wasn't after him, since any one of his enemies was bound to be more violent with their approach. West couldn't name a single vampire, demon, or werewolf that he had angered that would smile at him instead of clapping him on the shoulder and saying something along the lines of 'Oi, human boy, you're coming with me' before proceeding to drag him out into an alley and beat him up. Or kill him. Non-humans were violent creatures.
His eyes flickered to the door: a group of three vampires -- they had to be vampires; he hadn't pissed anyone else off lately -- came in, looking around for something. Clearly, they found it as soon as they fixed eyes on him, because they smiled evilly and start coming closer. One even cracked his knuckles. West stood up quickly, not caring any more for whether or not he blended in, and backed away a few steps. "Listen," he said, speaking very, very fast, "I'm not picking a fight with anyone. Really, I'm not. You're not from Manchester, are you? Oh, God, I should have never gone to Manchester. Stupid, stupid, stupid idea, really--"
One of them approached him menacingly and West froze mid-sentence. Looking around him, he realized that he had delayed too long in running and that he was pretty much now trapped. Reaching out, the vampire clapped a hand on his shoulder, making West stiffen involuntarily, and proclaimed, with a smile, "Oi, human boy, you're coming with us." Well, he thought dryly, I got it mostly right. 'Us' instead of 'me', though.
"Oh, I hope not, I really do," the human replied automatically. He could feel the adrenaline in his veins: this had been his life for the past three years and he was almost growing to like it. The rush when he got cornered like this, the chance to prove how quick and clever he was, it was just a little intoxicating. Even on the days when he crashed completely, he didn't regret leaving Mexico. How could he? The world was full of life and humans that needed saving and jobs that needed doing and there was none of that in Mexico. "Because I tend to be really, really lucky, and that means bad things for you."
It was true that he was lucky. Things always seemed to work out in his favor. However, what happened next was strange, even by West's own twisted standards: the man in the booth stood up and inserted himself smoothly between the human and his antagonist. "Excuse me," the stranger said, "but what in gods name are you doing?" There was some cheeky reply from the vampire trio's leader -- and then the stranger kicked him literally across the room.
West leaned over and looked into his coffee cup, wondering if there had been something other than cream in it.
The trio looked at the stranger -- vampire, actually -- then at their leader, then promptly ran. However, they dropped two words that even the human West knew: Dimitri Addington. He didn't know what it meant, or who Dimitri Addington was, but he had heard the name several times over his three years in Europe. Then, the vampire was turning to him and saying something. It took a little while for West to focus, being still distracted by the sight of the retreating vampire gang, but he caught most of what was said to him. "My sincerest apologizes, but I couldn't let a human fall to the hands of my brethren."
He swallowed and flashed a slightly manic grin at Dimitri. "Quite all right," West said. "Well, actually, more than all right. Job's a bit crazy, you know? Shit happens. I survive. Or get saved -- thank you for that, by the way." He cocked his head to the side, studying his saviour openly for the first time. Attractive, dark-haired, confident, vampiric... West wasn't sure what all of that led up to -- meaning who this guy really was -- but he didn't expect to be told. He kept who he was to himself, and in return, so did those he ran into.
"And what is a demon like yourself doing here?" This wasn't addressed to him, but West shivered slightly and peered at the demon from behind Dimitri. Demons liked him even less than vampires did. They were easier to anger and much, much harder to convince that it'd be better to leave him alive. As long as he had the vampire in between him and the demon, though, the human figured he was fairly safe. Then again, he had thought that when he had first walked into the café, and look how very wrong he had been.

He took a bite out of the roll and sipped his frappuccino. The smell was like no other frappuccino he'd ever had. And Credo was a sucker for french vanilla coffee. But by God, this was the best he'd ever had. Perhaps he'd chill in Italy more often. Seeing as everything about this place was beautiful, artistic, and so uplifting. It was almost enchanting how beautiful this place was. And it saddened him that most people never get the chance to see this place. War was always a heavy burden that did not affect just one part of the world. It affected everyone. Though people like Credo were able to go just about anywhere, considering the fact he was a shapeshifter, and a very good one at that.
The perks of being a shapeshifter seemed boundless. He could be anyone and anything if he wished hard enough. He could go anywhere, and people wouldnt know who he really was. Credo didn't know who he really was anymore. But honestly, he didn't care. Credo was whoever he wanted to be. And he wanted most of all to be a kid who loves everything shiny and cool. He loved his carefree life. No family to look after, no job to be obligated to, none of that. He lived a life that one in one million people would ever get the chance to have. Shapeshifting was truly the 100% good life. The best life.
Some people entered the cafe and looked around. They didn't look like they were here for coffee, but more so to start trouble. And that is exactly what they did. The group had spotted the human sitting a few feet in front of Credo's choice spot he'd seated himself and approached with cocky smiles and wide, excited eyes.
The man stood up as if he knew what they were planning and proceeded to take a few steps back. One of them placed a hand on the man's shoulder and uttered something. But the vampire Credo was silently investigating placed himself in the middle of the gang and the lone human. He demanded to know what they were doing, and the leader of the bunch lashed back. However, he was sent packing across the room and the others took his example in. They quickly retreated without rebuttle, leaving the defeated leader to wallow in his own embarrassment.
The human and vampire traded friendly words as Credo watched and studied them both. This was very different to him. He was used to watching vampire-kind treat the lowly humans like the dirt beneath their feet and using them as cattle for their own personal amusement. Of course, Credo had no interest in that. But he did take interest in how both sides coped with each other. So it was rather intriguing watching a Vampire and Human talk on even levels without one lashing out at the others neck.
"And what is a demon like yourself doing here?", said a voice over yonder. Credo hesitated to make eye contact with the vampire, but in the end he made himself do it anyway. He didn't sound exactly happy to see a demon in his presence, and it was obvious the power behind his voice was a sign that he was no push over.
Forcing his nervousness into the back of his mind, Credo looked up and put a smile on his face. Wanting to forget about his fear for this certain vampire, though he'd probably already picked up Credo's fear scent. "The same reason you'er here. I wanted to taste Italy's famous coffees," he said as sipped his frappuccino again. "They weren't wrong when they said this place was amazing."

"care to join me for a bit?" the vampire lord pulled back on his power and suddenly the room seemed lighter. perhaps he would have to work out something with the human boy. humans were a rarity now and they were vital. a few of the elders spoke of some kind of magic humans possessed. something that would help with the war. his thoughts were quickly capped and he slid into his booth. "demon please come join us. I would like to learn a bit more about why you haven't caused this town chaos." the words were soft as he sipped his fresh coffee.
. this vampire lord was a gentleman and he would be sure to treat his guests nicely. the vampire queen wouldn't approve of bad behavior to begin with. he sat back in his booth and eyed the two people he had asked to join him. from what he could tell this demon was a young one. much much younger than he thought. "don't mind my odd invitation. after that little scene I think it's a good thing we all sit together as to not cause to much alarm." the vampire lord opened his eyes and gave the two boys a smile that showed just a slip of fang. "young human I do wonder what you are doing here by yourself. perhaps you are not aware that demons and others are ordered to kill you on spot. or so says the demoness overlord." he scoffed setting his cup down and lounged back on the booth.
. his arms went along the back of the bench he sat on and he slumped a bit. resting his head back on the bench, he looked at the ceiling. things were getting messy. not that he cared. he only made sure his life was good and that his queen's wishes were followed. the vampire lord sighed and ran a hand through his hair as he returned his attention to the boys. he felt like a father scolding his children. "and what about you demon? you are very young. perhaps you haven't been won over by her terribleness. she can be quite the nasty one, your demon queen. I hope this doesn't offend you but she needs to be taken care of." the glowing red orbs looked over the demon carefully. from what he could tell, the demon was harmless. which was a good thing. he didn't have to worry about protecting this little cafe. he had actually taken a liking to it. perhaps he would buy it like numerous other cafes he liked then bought.

West relaxed slightly as the demon began talking. He had a nice voice for a demon, not at all the sinister snarl that he usually heard from members of that species. He was by no means about to change his opinion of demons in general, or even let down his guard around this one, since the human had more than his fair share of human stubbornness. However, West did wave slightly awkwardly at him as the demon spoke, then turned to Dimitri as the vampire said, "Care to join me for a bit?"
Laughing in the silent, hiccuping way that he had adopted for all the times when he was still too high on adrenaline to really think straight, West shook his head as the vampire bowed to him. He wasn't exactly sure who Dimitri Addington was, but judging by the way his name had made those other vampires run away, he could guess that it really should be the other way around. The human didn't have anyone's respect, really, except his own. So, slightly clumsily, he returned the gesture, except much more formally. He felt like a fool, bowing to someone; no one had bowed as a form of greeting for hundreds of years. A little voice in the back of West's head said that probably Dimitri had been around when people actually did bow, so he should just stop over thinking things and go with it.
"I'm really sorry -- I'm being rude." West straightened and ran a hand through his unruly ponytail. "My name's West. West Lee. Or Tonnee -- not enough people call me Tonnee... West'll do, though. In your debt!" He popped the last syllable playfully before sliding over into the vampire's booth. The seat was comfortable, as if that made any difference, and had more than enough room for the demon to decide and join them while still keeping a fair distance away from him.
"Love to join you, thanks for the invitation. I really ought to stop talking already. Get a bit carried away with it sometimes. Love to talk!" Then the human bit his thumbnail with a thoughtful frown before waving his hand vaguely. "Love to leave out the subject in my sentences, too, apparently. Maybe it's the coffee. Probably, yes." Shutting his mouth suddenly, West forced himself to be quiet.
Dimitri was talking again. "Don't mind my odd invitation," the vampire said. "After that little scene I think it's a good thing we all sit together as to not cause to much alarm." West raised his eyebrows in an expression that was a mixture of agreement and incredulity. While he knew it was good not to cause too much trouble -- he had been living by that same mantra for three years, actually, excepting when he wasn't -- it seemed a little silly (and a little too much like something he himself would think up) to just act natural in the same café they had been causing trouble in. West wasn't exactly in a position to be making comments as to his savior's decisions, though, so said and did nothing except settle back in his seat in the booth, letting the vampire take the lead in the conversation.
"Young human, I do wonder what you are doing here by yourself. Perhaps you are not aware that demons and others are ordered to kill you on spot? Or so says the demoness overlord." The human began drawing invisible circles on the tabletop, pursing his lips slightly. He knew that his life outside of the 'safe' zones was dangerous and even foolhardy. But that was why he lived it: because it was ridiculous and thrilling and lovely just as often as it was deadly.
"Oh," West replied after a second's pause, blowing out a breath quietly. "I know. Of course I know. But that's the point, really. I'm out here on my own because demons are ordered to kill us. It's good reverse psychology, actually, the proof being that I'm still alive." He rubbed his hands together and flashed a lopsided grin at the demon. "No offense, but I'm saving my people from yours, buddy, a few at a time."
As Dimitri mentioned the demon's age, he turned to study him -- and found that it was very difficult for him to distinguish between an old demon and a young one. With vampires, it was much easier: the older they were, the more important they seemed to be, which put Dimitri as very important indeed if that scale had any truth to it. With other species -- West tried to stay away from werewolves and never encountered one of the fae, so couldn't speak to them.

"Demon please come join us. I would like to learn a bit more about why you haven't caused this town chaos." , Dimitri called. Credo was more than happy to seat himself in after the human had slid in before him. He made sure to get a suitable distance for the both of their comfort. The human had introduced himself as West Lee, or Tonnee and proceeded to show his gratitude for Dimitri saving him the trouble of fighting those guys. Credo registered the name and he had indeed heard it uttered by the Demoness he so followed once upon a time. "Don't mind my odd invitation. After that little scene I think it's a good thing we all sit together as to not cause to much alarm." "I agree. Though Im not much for trouble anyways.", Credo said politely as he sipped from his frappuccino again. The vampire displayed a smile, by Credo's guess was to lighten the awkward mood that had settled itself in the middle of the three. Dimitri went on to ask the human what it was he was doing in out in the open like this. Credo wondered why he would be avoiding attention from anyone besides vampires wanting human cattle. But by the way he was talking to that group of trouble makers earlier, to Credo's understanding he had angered many people else where for whatever reason. This made things a lot more interesting for Credo. His childish expressions transgressed back to a demons natural, narrow eyed and interested gaze and he held a more serious air about him. "No offense, but I'm saving my people from yours, buddy, a few at a time.", West said grinning just a bit. "Im sure Her Highness would have surely have given up the fruitless chase of just one human.", Credo said, tossing West a look from the corner of his eye. It was not a look to be rude, but more of a look out of respect for The Morrigan, whom he looked up to for personal reasons. Considering he lived under her for some time, he would naturally take offense to people talking down to her. Not that West and Dimitri were, but he wanted to stomp the subject before it got to big. "And what about you demon? You are very young. Perhaps you haven't been won over by her terribleness. She can be quite the nasty one, your demon queen. I hope this doesn't offend you but she needs to be taken care of.", Credo looked up, his fear of Dimitri diminishing, "Most of my kind see's otherwise," he continued with a smirk tracing his face, "She's done more for us than one might think. Even though some people like to go overboard with it. I dont agree with most of her methods, but she's taught me more than I would have learned on my own. But I prefer to keep my distance from all of it. Which is why Im here." Credo always thought of the The Morrigan as a foster mother. He refused to follow closely under her, but rather from a distance and she did not hunt him down for it. She simply left him to live. Which was out of character for her it seemed. But perhaps she had some other plans for him when he was older. Her forces grew ever larger by the days' end. Notes: Colorful! Tagged: West Dimitri

"don't be alarmed by your senses being tweaked. I simply shrouded us in an illusion. everyone else will think we are having a conversation that doesn't pertain to this. I hate eavesdroppers." the lord stated simply as he sipped at his cup of coffee. a sad looked crossed over him as he realized he didn't have a roll any more.
. carefully setting his cup down, the vampire took in the two creatures he had before him. what an interesting night this was turning out to be. "I am so sorry, where are my manners. my name is dimitri addington, self proclaimed vampire master of germany. other than my queen that is." he grinned letting a slip of fang show. what to do with the situation at hand. perhaps he could make allies with the demon. it never hurt to have a friend or so on the other side. as for the human well he wanted this one under his protection. not because he wanted to use him as cattle, but because he didn't trust letting a human roam around on his own. perhaps he would get in touch with that elder. his thoughts seemed to wander and drift away from the situation at hand. after a few moments he brought himself back to the cafe, giving the two creatures a very business like smile.
. "so it seems you view your queen highly eh demon? no worries. you don't need to worry about me or anyone taking her out just yet. though shouldn't you be concerned? I've heard whispers that katsumiki was finally released again." the lord murmured softly finishing off his cup off coffee. "but anyways I have a business proposition for you two." his eyes glowed mischievously as he eyed down his prey. these two boys would come under his control one way or another. "I would like to offer both of you my services. meaning protection, assassination, whatever you may need. my brother and I have run the underground for quite some time and can be sure both you are well protected and taken care of. and I know this may seem a bit odd to you two but I am feeling generous. I'd rather have allies I can rely on then enemies as young as you two." he spoke the words ever so softly as he leaned back hands folded neatly on the table top.

"I'm sure Her Highness would have surely have given up the fruitless chase of just one human." West laughed: the demon was just a little silly. As far as the human knew, the Morrigan was willing to chase any human who opposed her straight down to Hell, regardless of how insignificant they might be. If he had been trying to control the world, he would have done the same. It didn't do to have dissenters of any kind among the populace, not if you wanted to stay alive.
"Yes, well, I suppose," he said with a grin. "You'd think I was harmless but, oh, Hell no." Somewhere in the back of his mind he wondered if it was odd that the demon hadn't ripped off his head the moment he said anything rude about the Morrigan. "I'm important, see. Because I'm a dissenter -- and dissent becomes ideas, and ideas become revolutions."
West rubbed the back of his neck and took an interested glance at the café around him. To be completely honest, he hadn't noticed that Dimitri had done anything particularly special. For someone that lived openly among the non-humans, he was actually fairly clueless. By any rights he should have been dead as soon as he left Mexico. "Pleased to meet you." West studied the vampire as he introduced himself. He was right: Dimitri was very, very important. Which could work in his favor, since he seemed to be good at getting people mad lately.
"I've heard whispers that katsumiki was finally released again." Raising his eyebrows, the human frowned and mouthed the name slowly, over-emphasizing the syllables. He knew who Katsumiki was. Everyone did. If she had been released, then that meant that the future would get very, very interesting very, very quickly. With a strangely mischievous glance at both West and the demon, Dimtri said, "I would like to offer both of you my services."
West nearly choked.
"Meaning," the vampire continued, "protection, assassination, whatever you may need...." As the vampire talked, West tried to conceal the surprise on his face as best he could. Those thugs that had been chasing him were vampires, Dimtri's own kind, and now he was offering him protection from them? Maybe the vampire lord didn't understand just how pissed off the Manchester undead were. Maybe he was just off his rocker -- power did that to people. Maybe he was sincere. West worried his bottom lip: that last option was so out-of-the-blue he felt foolish for considering it.
"Sorry to be the spoilsport," the human said as soon as Dimitri finished, "and though I'd love to take you up on the offer, I'm not stupid. I look stupid, according to some people, but I'm not." He leaned forward, tapping the table steadily with his index finger. "Vampire lords do not offer protection to a demon and a human just 'cause they're feeling generous." West sighed and stopped drumming, clapping his free hand over the tapping one in case it annoyed anyone too much. He was already running the risk of angering the vampire lord by being so frank about his suspiciousness.
"They let us live because they're feeling generous. What do you want in return? This is a chaotic world, Lord Addington, and nothing comes for free. Especially protection. Especially protection for someone like me, someone that goes around and causes trouble for a living. You'd only be inconveniencing yourself by keeping an eye on me, and I think you know that. You're clever – very clever. There are plenty more angry creatures where those three came from, plenty more out to kill me, plenty more unhappy with what I am and what I do. So, tell me." West glanced from Dimtri to Credo, biting his lip a little nervously. "What's in it for you?"
He was right to be suspicious, he knew; he had been nearly killed far too many times to take someone’s word without seriously questioning their possible motives. The more important the person, the more likely it was that there was some personal gain involved for them and injury or enslavement for him. If Dimitri was being sincere, and, by some strange stroke of luck, was actually just feeling generous, then by God, West was going to take him up on the offer. But if it impaired his freedom at all, his freedom to live as a human being, then he’d rather run with all the vampires of Germany at his back than accept.

"I am so sorry, where are my manners. My name is Dimitri Addington, self proclaimed vampire master of Germany. Other than my queen that is."
Everyone else seemed to have introduced themselves except Credo. It slipped his mind because he was interested in other things less trivial than names. "Im Credo. Credo Zimere Tezaj." Now that that was out of the way, maybe he could get a little more out of this conversation?
"I'm important, see. Because I'm a dissenter -- and dissent becomes ideas, and ideas become revolutions." , West replied, a smirk crossing his face. Surely Credo could not let that one slip. "You must have a death wish, human." Credo glared at West from the corner of his eye again. This time not letting the gaze break for some moments. Obviously Credo wasn't clear enough the first time he stomped the subject. "So it seems you view your queen highly eh demon? No worries. You don't need to worry about me or anyone taking her out just yet. Though shouldn't you be concerned? I've heard whispers that katsumiki was finally released again." Katsumiki. The name seemed to put a damper on the mood, and things turned a lot more serious. Katsumiki was a powerful force, one Credo would much prefer to keep his distance from as much as possible. But then another bit of interest slipped from the Vampire Lord's mouth. "But anyways I have a business proposition for you two." A proposition? Credo said to himself mental as he raised an interested brow to Dimitri and sipped his coffee, signaling he wanted to hear more. "I would like to offer both of you my services. Meaning protection, assassination, whatever you may need. What an interesting proposition, coming for a person like this. A high and mighty vampire lord, renown among his kind offering protection services to a human and a demon? Far fetched it did sound, but Credo was still interested. He wasn't always for running away and he'd rather keep his dignity in tact if possible. But it wouldnt hurt to sit back and let someone else beat your problems out for you, now would it? One utterance of the name Dimitri Addington and that alone was more than enough to send some people packing. However it seems West was not so welcoming to the offer. "What's in it for you?", West glanced at both Credo and Dimitri. That's a good point that Credo did not think of taking into consideration. "Yeah. What do you gain from looking after the two of us?", if it was something big he had to do in order to get what he wanted, it wasn't worth it. He wasn't about to search the ends of the planet for a certain person, place or thing for anyone. And he wasn't about to become anyone's errand boy. That privilege was strictly reserved for Nina and on a good day, Spike, and those two only. No one else was about to make them their personal slave without good reason. ALONE IN YOUR THOUGHTS HOW MANY OTHERS HAVE STOOD WHERE YOU - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - stand | [atrb=width,240] . the words of both the human and demon made his face blank. why is it when someone tries to be nice people just freak out and always make assumptions? the vampire sat back eyes narrowed. the whole mood of their area changed. he wasn't completely pissed but he wasn't happy. the demon made a comment to the hum and his eyes flashed a deep red. "you must have a death wish demon." the vampire mocked slightly as a new cup of coffee floated into existence. he didn't bother to hide his abilities now. let the demon see what kind of enemy he could make. humans he could deal with but demons not so much. not that he couldn't fight one, especially a young one, but he grew annoyed with them very quickly. "I will say that I am a little hurt by your assumptions. yes I am powerful. yes I have connections, but I am offering you honest protection. it's not like I don't do this to others." the vampire stated simply.
. he leaned back eyes on the boys before him. "human what would you say if there was a way to defeat the demons? sure they can die by traditional means, but what if there was a better way." the vampire said the words carefully his eyes on credo. of course he didn't want to really say anything in front of the demon. perhaps this wasn't even true. perhaps he was just going off of hope, but there was a way to win this and that he knew for sure. sighing, the vampire ran a hand through his hair. this was stupid. he was pulling at straws. almost immediately the vampire's circle dropped around them as he grabbed his coat. carefully he slid out of the booth and put his jacket on. "I'm sorry. forgive me. I'm just babbling. they say the older you get the more unstable you get. perhaps it was just a slip of my mind. but regardless sorry to bother you two. perhaps our paths will cross again." the vampire gave a small bow to both boys before heading towards the door.
. the lord waved to the coffee girl behind the counter. perhaps this was a tactic to get the boys more interested, but honestly he grew tired. opening the door, the vampire stepped outside. a soft rain had started and he didn't even bother to stop the rain from hitting him. what to do now? those boys were bothering him. not because he hated people but because they asked questions that annoyed him. he left mostly because he was bringing up a topic that shouldn't be discussed. especially in the company of a demon. humans had the magic but he had to to be sure some of the remaining humans contained it. perhaps he would feed now. it had been a while since he drank blood. hmmm what to do now?

"You must have a death wish, human."
That one was funny, it really was, and West laughed with real amusement, running his hands through his ponytail. He had been called many things in this crazy life of his -- insane, stupid, brilliant, handsome, a liar, manic -- but he didn't think 'suicidal' had ever really been one of them. Not that Credo had said that word directly, but it was implied. The glare the demon gave him was just made it even better. West wasn't intimidated in the least; in fact, he was resisting the urge to make a comment about how pouting only made the demon look cute.
"Not a death wish," he clarified. "I'll die for what I believe in, but I don't want to. Nope!" West winked at Credo, intentionally being annoying at this point. He liked the demon, actually, but it was in his nature to be irritating. "It's not my job to die for what I believe in. It's my job to make the other bastards die for what they believe in. The other bastards being the evil guys. Antagonists. Other synonyms for that kind of thing."
He twirled his hair in his fingers, studying the tabletop, but with his mind elsewhere. For all intents and purposes, that was his job exactly: not necessarily to kill, but to remove, the antagonists, specifically the ones antagonizing humans. After a moment, West added thoughtfully, "The other bastards being demons, werewolves, vampires, fae, and humans. All of us. No one gets out of that category 'cause of what they are, nor do they get in it for that reason."
"human what would you say if there was a way to defeat the demons? sure they can die by traditional means, but what if there was a better way."
West looked at Dimtri sharply, raising his eyebrows. He didn't see himself as being against the demons in particular -- sure, the Morrigan just so happened to be one herself, but that didn't mean the whole species was like that. Similarly, he didn't want Dimitri or Credo or anyone else judging humanity based on one person. However, if there was an easy way to take down demons, and to disable the main demon overlords...
Glancing at the demon beside him, but not being too careful with his words, the human said, "Is there a 'better' way to kill?" He rolled his eyes now. "Is a beheading better than a strangling? I want balance in power between the races, not the death of the demons. But if I could... yeah. That'd be useful. A simpler way to achieve anything's always useful. Would say the same, though, of a simpler way to defeat any species. Or maybe not 'defeat'... Not too good with words, actually. Dunno what I'd call it."
"I'm sorry. forgive me. I'm just babbling. they say the older you get the more unstable you get. perhaps it was just a slip of my mind. but regardless sorry to bother you two. perhaps our paths will cross again."
West bit his lip, sinking back against the seat as the vampire got up and left. He felt bad -- he hadn't intended to make Dimtri take his offer back -- but he also knew that leaving was a simply ploy to get them more interested. It always was. "You going after him?" he asked Credo blandly, staring out the door. He himself was debating whether he should go or not. However, debates with West never lasted too long, especially when he was having them with himself. He made up his mind quickly.
With a sudden clap of his hands, the human ducked down under the booth, using his acrobatic body to maneuver himself out onto the other side, where he popped up looking rather like a green-haired whack-a-mole. Without stopping to even say goodbye to the demon, should he not follow, West hurried out the door and up to the vampire's side.
"I didn't say I wouldn't," he pointed out with a grin. "That is, if you're still offering." It didn't matter if an offer like that was too good to be true, because it was literally too good to pass up. West was constantly hard-pressed for cash, for supplies, for protection, and if the vampire lord of Germany was willing to go out on a limb to help him, then he was not one to complain, not at all.
There was a chance that he was going to regret that decision, West knew. In fact, it was practically a guarantee. No one gave something for nothing; he wasn't prepared to believe that Dimitri would suddenly break that rule just because he was bored. However, plans weren't his specialty. He never made them. He never followed them. As such, he wasn't actually too concerned with the long run, just how he would stay alive to see tomorrow.

"It's not my job to die for what I believe in. It's my job to make the other bastards die for what they believe in. The other bastards being the evil guys. Antagonists. Other synonyms for that kind of thing."
Credo was never god at intimidating people. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. He was a little irritated his implied message, "Dont fuck with The Morrigan." fell on deaf ears. But he wasn't all that surprised at West's reaction. It was just the sort of thing he'd expect from a person like West anyway. In fact, that's why he liked West. He wasn't afraid to take risks, unlike Credo. Credo thinks things over too much and confuses himself, second guessing his initial thoughts and just ending up not doing what he was thinking of doing in the first place. So its not like he had a response to it. Credo rather just stared into the invisible something in his Frapaccino.
He faintly heard Dimitri mocking him and he felt the power he could very well unleash in this little cafe. But Credo chose to ignore it and move on. He'd rather not feed into things like that, seeing as that's what Dimitri wanted. A response to enforce the thought that he can snap Credo like a twig if he chose not to put up a decent fight before hand. If he ever were in that sort of situation, he'd weigh the pros and cons of fighting his opponent, and then make a chose. If it was not worth it, he'd simply brush it off and make his escape. If there was something in it for him, then he would probably stay and fight the good fight and reap the reward afterward. But Credo never liked violence anyway. So, its rather hard to predict as of yet.
Before long Dimitri was slipping his jacket on and taking his leave. It seems he was upset the two questioned his offer so quickly. But what did he expect in a world like this? Today's world was not about trust. It was about surviving. Credo was not about to make a stupid move and end up in a shitty situation he can't get out of. And he was sure West felt the same way. However, Dimitri would be a good card to have up his sleeve if need be.
"I'm sorry. Forgive me. I'm just babbling. They say the older you get the more unstable you get. Perhaps it was just a slip of my mind. But regardless sorry to bother you two. Perhaps our paths will cross again." he said before he slipped out of the cafe. Credo watched and cursed himself for thinking so arrogantly. A great chance gone down the toilet, and he let it. You going after him?" West said, glancing over to Credo. Credo bit his lip and thought about it. But before he could respond West was already after Dimitri. "Didn't say I wouldnt." Credo sat up in his seat, a mixed expression of irritation and determination plastered itself all over his face. He started to call after West, but then before he knew it himself, he was up and out of the door darting after West and Dimitri. "Didnt say I wouldn't either." Notes: Go get 'em!
