It's 7 o'clock in the morning. The sun was slowly rising, the temperature was a bit chilly. There was a weak west wind that blew outside. Inside the mansion, a young woman made her way to Ares' room. She opened the door to the master bedroom and walked in. Maestro, tempo di svegliarsi She said as she opened the curtains to let the sunlight illuminate the dark room. When she finished opening all the curtains on the room she walked towards Ares' bed. Maestro, tempo di ... Ares opened an eye and glared at her. The young woman had lost her speech that instant. She bowed then walked away in a quickened pace, behind her she closed the door. 'Already time to wake up...' Ares thought as he sat up straight on his bed. He moved the bed sheets away then got up. It was 7:11 AM. Ares walked towards a window and looked outside. He looked over the capital of Italy, Rome.
His mansion is located on a hill where he has the perfect view of the capital. 'One day...' He thought as he turned and walked towards the bathroom to refresh himself. After an hour he walked outside the bathroom to his walk in closet. There an outfit was already selected for him to wear for the day. After putting on his clothes he went to get some breakfast. Breakfast was already served and waiting for him on the table. As he walked towards the dining room every maid or butler that he passed by had to stop what they were doing and bow to him. Ares completely ignored them as he walked. Upon arriving in the dining room everything was ready as usual. He took a deep breath, scenting the air. Scrambled eggs, bacon, croissants, bread, sausage, cheese, milk, fresh orange juice and many more for breakfast, just for him.
I want to have breakfast in a restaurant. Prepare the car.
|
He said as he looked at everyone then particularly at a maid. You, you choose a restaurant for me. He said as he eyed her, his way of eying someone was like a menace. He then turned and walked towards the entrance of the mansion where his car should be. A butler quickly opened the door for him as he walked outside. The black Range Rover was already parked outside. Ares stepped inside the SUV, a butler closed the door for him then the driver drove off. 'It better be a good restaurant.' He thought as they drove off. Chocolate optics looked outside at the passing by passage. The streets were always oh so busy, cars driving recklessly around, that is Italy's streets for you. After about thirty minute drive they came to a stop. The driver stepped out and opened the door for Ares. Ares too stepped out of the car, they were in a parking lot. They needed to walk to the square where there were a lot of restaurants, shops and a church. The place was very crowded the church was about to begin, it's Sunday morning. Ares walked straight to one of the cafe's. A waitress led him to his table which was situated outside of the cafe. Ares took off his blazer and hung it on his chair, he straightened his tie then sat down. He ordered a cup of coffee to start off. The waitress nodded and quickly went to get him a coffee. The cafe was full of people, all the tables were taken and luckily his was reserved. He was sitting alone by a two person table on the terrace. The sun was slowly rising, and it didn't take long before Ares noticed how bad the reserved table was. Damn it, the sun was kind of blinding him. 'What a horrible place to sit.' He thought as he got up. The waitress walked over to him and asked him what was wrong as he didn't even drink his coffee. Ares told her that he wanted another place indoors. She nodded and quickly went to make place indoors for him. Ares sighed as he grabbed his blazer. Maybe he should have eaten breakfast at home. He followed the waitress inside and sat down again at a two person's table way in the back. Not that here cared where he sat right now. The restaurant should be happy he actually decided to stay. Normally he'd just leave. The waitress placed his coffee down right in front of him and asked him what he wanted to eat. He told her to come back in a minute as he yet has to make up his mind of what he wants. He took a sip of his coffee as he tried to think of what he wanted for breakfast. Italy, like much of Europe, lay war torn and ravaged. Its beautiful architecture, culture, and people, all sundered beneath the varied assaults of Vampires, Demons, Lycans and others. Colonies of humanity that once dominated the region gave way to... Nothing. Nothing at all. Small pockets, of course, remained vigilant throughout the siege, but nothing that couldn't be overwhelmed by the forces that sought it - nothing that could hold back Alice's storm.
She had half a mind to begin a large scale assault of the entirety of Europe. Special consideration would be placed upon the Western and Southern shores, barring access to unfriendly species seeking to scavenge the remains of the fallen that would surely be in her wake. The borders of Asia would receive similar treatment too. Little was stopping this thought from becoming reality; in the vast legions of Vampires that stalked the vast European countrysides there was enough manpower to occupy much of what humanity had lost, as much of humanity had conformed into Vampirism in recent years. They possessed firepower and technology unlike the other species, which in Alice's mind, separated them from the others with more capable everyday soldiers. Scattered across the entirety of Europe were enough supplies and resources to keep her people strong for ages - even against the Demonic uprising. So what, then, was it that was giving her pause?
Greece.
An isolated country with a birth of Demons beyond reckoning. Though their numbers weren't in league with that of Alice's Vampires, they were nonetheless an alarming threat. Europe could not be controlled without Greece - her very movements could not go unnoticed without the removal of the Demons from Greece. And yet, lashing out at them could trigger a war between the two races that would have Alice feel very uneasy. She didn't appreciate her odds against such numbers - though she'd deny it utterly should anyone ask. What then was she supposed to do? All options promised harm to her people. Should she then lay in wait, allowing others to make the first move and react to it? No, that presented just as much danger to her people, only not knowing what move would be made first would make it harder to anticipate dangers to her own people - at least if she were first to act, she could predict a reaction. All options lead to war. All options lead to death.
With little else to go on, the Queen of the Vampires had only to take the time she needed to weigh her options. During this time, she decided it fitting to personally conduct surveys, scope out their foes and obstacles, and collect intelligence. She would, after all, risk little harm to her people unless absolutely necessary. And so she would take all the hazardous work upon herself. Much to the dismay of those who sought her protection, Alice slipped away from the misty regions of Germany in the dead of night, her eye upon Italy. One of the larger countries closer to Greece, much would be determined by what she found there. The state of the land, the people, if any...
Early in the morning was it when Alice decided to take shelter from the beating rays of the sun. As a Vampire of age, she had grown remarkably resistant to its weaker rays; particularly those closer to dusk. This allowed her to travel for short periods of time in the sun - something unheard of among her kind. However, it was quite dangerous, and not something she did without reason. Never the less, it was time to take shelter and reconnoiter her surroundings for a more precise sweep in the evening. Her target? A sleepy country-side village. From a distance, it almost appeared untouched by the wars the ravaged the entire world. There was no devastation to be seen, no fires, smoke or even the remnants of battle decaying around the outskirts. Truly, this had to be one of the few places in the world not consumed by some manner of strife.
Alice was intrigued.
Stepping into the quiet cobbled streets, her initial assumptions did not go unfound. People patiently went about their daily business without any sort of fear in their eyes. Armed personnel seemed to be at a minimum - and nobody else was carrying weapons around with them. To make matters more interesting, Humans seemed to be the predominant species. Humans. This realization caused Alice's eyebrow to cock, mildly impressed. It was then that she also realized how outlandish she had to appear; dressed in her usual "Stalker" outfit, bearing layers of dark cloaks and robes, she stood out like a sore thumb. No matter. She didn't feel at all threatened by anything in this village.
Alice shuffled her shoulders about, discomforted almost by the serenity of the village. She'd forgotten what beauty of this form looked like after so many years of scouring destroyed landscapes. Shaking her head of such idle thoughts, Alice's silver eyes scanned around for some place she could seek immediate shelter, feeling the heat in her body already threatening to overcome her. First glances lead her to a small coffee shop, seemingly with lodging in the floors above. More people seemed to be crowded around this area than any other, also presenting the bonus of gathering some information as to why this remote place wasn't devastated like the others. Despite the burning sun threatening overhead, Alice simply walked towards the cafe, showing nothing to fear of the otherwise deadly orb hanging overhead.
A welcoming jingle of bells played overhead as she stepped through the doors, alerting all inside that a new customer had entered. Nobodies head turned. Nobody payed any heed to her. Curious. Slow footsteps carried Alice up towards the reception desk, across the room from the small servery where many more customers hovered about. "One day. Leaving tonight. My business is my own," Alice commanded of the of receptionist, a frail looking woman no older than twenty. She gave a frightened nod to Alice and passed her the key to room number nineteen. No sooner did she receive this key did she turn about, and briskly saunter over towards the small line awaiting their orders across the room. Pale fingers arose to lower the thick black hood cloaking her face in shadow, revealing her serene face and black hair for all to see.
In front of her stood a well dressed man of a rather rare species - some sort of were-animal from what her scent could tell, though what strain was still to be decided (he had a faint feline hint about him, but that could just as well be from a hunt). Around him stood a small escort of what appeared to be servants. Alice snorted quietly. She'd not been in the town more than a minute, and already found a local in charge? Brilliant. A sly grin formed upon her face, confident and daring. "So tell me; why is it that this remote area appears unscathed by the war that consumes the entire world?" she asked quietly, in a completely non-chalant manner. "Is it because of your protection that I see no wreckage about this town? Or is it simply luck?"
Whether or not this man liked it, the war was about to spill into their backyards. The time had finally come to choose a side, or be demolished underfoot by the hordes of Demons and ranks of Vampires that would soon swarm the land.

The steam that was coming from his coffee slowly disappeared. His coffee was getting cold. Ares took a sip of his coffee. The taste was remarkably, not bad. Maybe he should visit this restaurant more often for breakfast. If the coffee tasted not so bad then the food must be the same. The scent of fresh bread and pastry was in the air. He took another sip of his coffee, he has made his mind up what he wants to eat. All he had to do was merely lift his hand, the waitress was within seconds by his side. She asked him what he wanted to eat. Chocolate optics looked up at her. Ares always had this prestige about him. Maybe that is what made him popular around town. Vorrei un panini con uova e pancetta per favore.

He said asking for bread with bacon and eggs. The waitress nodded and went to get his order. Ares grabbed the newspaper that was at his disposal. He unfolded the newspaper and began reading it. He used his left hand to hold the newspaper while his right hand grabbed the cup of coffee. He took another sip from the coffee, it was a bit cold. He placed the cup back on the saucer, then gently shoved it forward. The movement already told everyone that he didn't want it. The waitress noticed this, she walked over to him and asked him if he would like anything else. Ares ordered another coffee and a side drink which was fresh cold milk. Those who knows what he really is would laugh, why? Because kitties are known to drink milk and yes Ares loved it. He turned the first page. Well there wasn't much news when it came to what was happening in the village that they were. Most of the news were on the international news. O where is this world heading, so many raging species against one another. Why can they not come to peace? He continued to read what was going on outside of Italy. When the waitress came back with his coffee and milk he sighed shaking his head lightly. Si puo credere a questa follia? He asked the waitress as he looked up at her once more. He pointed at the article and shook his head lightly. The waitress nodded, she too didn't like what was happening outside the town or even worse, outside Italy. Most of the cities were destroyed, large countries were destroyed in the war. A man sitting on the table next to Ares looked at Ares and nodded. The young man too didn't like it. The young man was happy that Ares was running this town. Thanks to his money and power this town was protected and what was destroyed got rebuild. The people were happy with him. Just what he needed, happy people means happy followers and no threats. His theory is simple, make everyone happy, expand your power and territory, then take over the rest of the world. Other countries will be at his mercy, this was the perfect time, most countries are in need of outside help, taking them over will be as easy as stealing candy from a baby. Though he needs more than just a town following him. So far things are slowly expanding, the other cities that got destroyed are all wondering how this town got saved. The waitress came back with his panini with bacon and eggs. Ares folded the newspaper and took a quick sip of his coffee. He took a bite out of the bread. This one tasted almost the same as what he regularly eats at home. Looks like it's the same recipe they use here too. None the less the bread does taste good. As he took another bite, a person walked into the restaurant. No one really budged nor did Ares. But he did catch the scent of the person who walked into the restaurant. He fixated his chocolate orbs on her for a few seconds. 'Vampire.' He thought as he looked at her. Ares averted his eyes and went back to eating his bread. There weren't many vampires in town, most of the vampires that lived here Ares knows. This must be a new one. He took a sip from his coffee again. Ares did kept his guard up, knowing what is happening around the world you can't trust anyone. He took another bite from the bread. Having good ears he managed to hear what she said to the young woman behind the desk. So she was here to spend one night. Ares took another bite as he tried to listen in what she was saying. But it looks like that was it. The young woman handed her a key to a room. He used his fork to eat a fallen bacon. He watched as she made her way to him. O well, there's no hiding it. Maybe she caught his scent and knew immediately that he isn't quite the normal human. Her question made him smile. He took a sip from his coffee before he gave her an answer. Good morning. He started out with as he placed the cup back down on the saucer. I think you already know why this town is like this. He said his smile growing slightly. He wasn't the only were animal that lived here. Many of those were animals were lonely, they thought they were the only ones on earth. But when Ares appeared and gave them a good place in this city, it was like a mini pack formed. When it came to their homes being destroyed, the answer was a no, and yes they fought to the death to protect their beloved hometown. It's not only my protection, but the entire city worked to protect this place. He said, well yes the humans did join arms not knowing about the were animals. Okay, those that survived the battle field do know that the were animals exist. But the people never talk about it. Let me guess, you didn't expect to find this place in one piece. He said as he now looked at her in the eyes. [/div] words 1064 | tagged OPEN | misc

The man kept his composure, much like Alice would, when confronted. A solemn air of dignity surrounded him; he felt no threat by Alice's presence (not that she was trying to appear threatening, that is). The Queen of the Vampires was keen enough to know what this meant; his state of peace couldn't be maintained by his faith in himself - he was not capable of surviving an unfriendly encounter with Alice. However, his faith was placed in those around him. Already, she was learning. "Good morning," he began in an almost disinterested tone, as though his morning meal were the most fascinating thing in the room rather than the woman addressing him. "I think you already know why this town is like this," he added matter-of-factly. Though Alice remained entirely stone faced, inside she twitched mentally from annoyance. If she knew, she would not have asked - was it that hard a concept to grasp? She asked because she did not know, and wished to. Some people were so ignorant.
But she remained silent and allowed him to speak his mind further. After all, one could learn much more simply by closing their mouth and opening their ears. "It's not only my protection, but the entire city worked to protect this place." Alice's eyebrow cocked slightly. The "not only" part was what she was looking for; implying his power within the region. This was all she wanted from the man, and despite his careful tip-toeing around answering her (though she'd given him no reason to be so stoic with her), she'd gotten what she sought. Silver eyes moved around the room slowly, taking note of anyone keeping a close eye on her, possibly concealing armaments. Nothing. "Let me guess, you didn't expect to find this place in one piece," he asked airily, still content with his meal.
Alice wasn't amused.
If you're going to address someone, you do so respectfully - and this was not it. Toying with her, belittling her, or otherwise disrespecting her did not sit well with her, in the slightest. Had he no manners? Alice sighed, expelling air from her lungs that she never needed to keep her body alive, licking her bottom lip slightly before speaking. "What I expected is my business, not yours," she replied icily, dismissing his questions and his authority before it ever presented itself. He had his turn to talk; now it was Alice's. "Very well. Then I have a proposition for you, "he-who-has-withheld-his-name", and I suggest you take it to heart. Vampires are coming to town," she spoke slowly, deliberately, allowing her words the proper time they needed to soak into his mind. "There's a war coming; between the Demons, and as much as the rest of the world. They'll be coming here first." Shock seemed to fill the eyes of the others listening in on the conversation. Alice smiled, intrigued by the sense of despair brought upon by her doomsaying. "Now, here's the deal. We've no intention of destroying you, your people, your land or your possessions. We only aim to defend against, and hopefully destroy, this Demon uprising. When this is done and over with, we will vacate this land that was never ours. We ask for your hospitality during this time. Work with us, and we will protect you from this storm. Resist us, and you will be the first casualties of this war to be."
The entire building fell silent. With her back straight, her chin upwards and a smile upon her face, Alice peered down at the man who seemed to once be in control of the region. For the time being, this was no more. His duty would become to protect his people, nothing more. Would he then see Alice's words as a carefully devised bluff, or see the reason in her words and accept? Alice stepped towards the man, now emboldened by the knowledge she shared - to know she had them pinned between certain death, or just what she wanted. In truth, their deaths would only make getting what she needed easier. This battle was won for Alice before he even made a decision. "What say you? Will you allow us entry to destroy those that would slaughter you mercilessly? Or must we take up such a cause ourselves? Choose your answer wisely; you speak to the Queen of the Vampires. You will not find me... Forgiving." Flashing a deadly smile, exposing her fangs, Alice stepped back. Nothing to hide, nothing to fear.
This wasn't a discussion. This was an order. WORDS: idfk - TAG: ares - NOTES: none - OUTFIT: stalker |
